Dev Blog #8 – Next Evolution of CURE
Cleb - December 22, 2016
We have been working hard testing out our ideas about how CURE should work, and so far, we are really happy with the result. We have gotten a lot of great feedback and have learned a lot about how we want the game to operate in the release version of the game. As of 1.0.5, we now have a nice foundation for how abilities will work, we have a few working units, and we now even a little boss (the macrophage) to keep things interesting… so now, with the basic functionalities and foundation of the game mapped out, we are going to start focusing on Genetic Engineering!
Genetic Engineering is one of our favorite aspects of CURE- it will be a way for you, the player, to permanently configure and change your units. You can do this by mutating and evolving your units while defeating your opponents. Creating strong and more resilient organisms will result in the ability to face harder and harder challenges, so you can grow even stronger. These adaptations can be collected through playing the game against opponents, and can then be added permanently to your organism’s DNA.
We feel this addition to the Closed CURE Alpha will change the feel of the game from simply a tech demo to a fairly compelling game, with goals and challenges. The future of CURE is looking brighter with each patch, and we are really excited about this next big change! It’s going to be one more huge step towards the game’s completion, but we still have a great distance still to go! This next change may take a fair amount of time and will be hard to implement, so stay tuned for our progress! Thank you for following the development of CURE, and watching this project evolve ??
